Revised Edition, fifth printing, 1966. The first part of the book is short stories of children traveling in early America. The second section is more descriptive about the history of transportation and more modern methods including helicopters and hydrofoils. The numerous black and white drawings are captivating. Green and blue illustrated dust jacket is worn around the edges, particularly at the top edge. There are two small tears at the top edge of the front panel. Head of spine panel is slightly torn at each edge and there is a 1" open tear at the top of the rear panel. Original price is intact but there is a small clip to the bottom corner of the front and back flaps. Jacket is now protected by Brodart. Book is bound in green cloth with blue title on spine. Front board has blue reproduction of illustration from dust jacket. Bottom edges of boards are rubbed and some of the green color is spotty along the bottom. Head and tail of spine are slightly bumped. Previous owners name written neatly in ink on endpaper. Binding is tight and interior is clean and bright. 134p.
